SAT March 8th Testing Glitch

Published on 17 March 2025 at 17:37

On March 8, 2025, a technical glitch in the College Board's digital testing platform, Bluebook™, caused some students' SAT exams to be automatically submitted before their allotted testing time had concluded. This issue affected approximately 12.8% of international and 0.6% of domestic test takers.

To address this problem, the College Board has implemented the following measures:

  1. Refunds and Future Test Vouchers: All students impacted by the auto-submission error will receive a full refund of their March 8 registration fees and a voucher for a future SAT administration at no additional cost.

  2. Score Previews: Affected students will receive a preview of their March 8 scores by March 14. This allows them to make an informed decision about whether to retain their scores or opt for a makeup test.

  3. Makeup Testing Opportunity: A makeup exam is scheduled for March 22 (March 23 for Sunday test takers) for those who choose to retake the test. Availability is contingent upon local test center capacity.

Recommended Steps for Affected Students:

  • Monitor Communications: Check your email regularly for updates from the College Board regarding score previews and makeup test availability.

  • Decide on Score Retention or Makeup Test: After reviewing your score preview, determine whether to keep your March 8 score or register for the makeup exam.

  • Contact College Board if Necessary: If you experienced issues like losing testing time due to device reboots or have not received expected communications, reach out to College Board Customer Service at sat.org/inquiry or call 866-756-7346 (international: +1-212-713-7789).allaccess.collegeboard.org+2compassprep.com+2newsroom.collegeboard.org+2
